SquareRooms Issue 181 Mid-Year 2020

Creative Spin Fun touches throughout this home make it a personalised sanctuary for two 1 Master bedroom A blue accent wall against the bed instantly gives the room a sense of cosiness and wood-pattern floor tiles further warm up the aesthetic of the room, providing the owners the added benefit of easy maintenance and durability. To minimise dead space, the bay window was turned into a storage settee that the couple can style with pillows and plush toys to create a comfortable lounging zone. 2 Kitchen Island In this kitchen, the pastel grey island is the centrepiece. Besides providing additional storage, it acts as a worktop counter and dining spot. Topped with hardy Cosentino Silestone top, the L-shaped bench features a unique rounded corner with dowels pasted around the curved edge for more visual and textural interest. Paired with brass handles and set against a scalloped tile backsplash, the island turns the kitchen into an eye- catching spot in the house. 3 Living area The living area was given a minimalist Scandinavian treatment thanks to a cool colour palette used on the walls and newly laid wood-like floor tiles arranged in a herringbone pattern. By limiting the amount of built-in fixtures, the space can be easily modified in future without requiring major renovation works. 4 Master bathroom This private bathroom for the couple has the same flooring and mid-grey walls as the common bathroom, but for an additional touch of luxury, Chris created a feature wall with marble-like tiles arranged in a herringbone pattern. From the vanity to the mosaic floor tiles, plenty of interesting textures adorn the master suite. Additionally, display ledges let the couple decorate the space with fragrances and plants while miscellaneous necessities can be stowed in the under-sink cabinetry and out of sight. 5 Common bedroom Acting as a shared dressing space for the homeowners, the room offers plenty of clothing storage thanks to a generously- sized L-shaped closet complemented by sleek handles. A vanity area was placed beside the window so grooming routines can be easily done with plenty of natural light. 80 S Q U A R E R O O M S SPACE 3-bedroom HDB BTO SIZE 730 sq ft LOCATION Canberra DESIGNER Chris Zhang of Plush Interior RENO PERIOD Two months 140 Paya Lebar Rd, Singapore 409015 Tel: 9423 3411 Web: www.facebook.com/Plushid PLUSH INTERIOR DESIGN At Plush Interior Design, great emphasis is placed on listening to customers’ wants and needs so personalised solutions that work for their lifestyle can be crafted for them.
