Christmas is just around the corner and if you’re throwing a merry feast over the weekend, here are some easy DIY ideas to spice up your party!
Create customised place settings
A quick and effortless way to update plain white tableware is to give it a new wash of colour. In this instance, we dipped the bottom end of a cup and a planter in chalk paint. They make great place settings for dinner parties too!
Add a rustic touch to your kitchen essentials
Rustic touches can add that special warmth to the utilitarian cooking zone. We updated this plain wooden slab with metallic paint on the sides to make it good enough to use at the table.
Get neat in the kitchen
This festive season, you might be planning to cook up a storm for your nearest and dearest. So keep things organised with this nifty notice board-cum-rack. Simply get some wire nets (we got ours from Daiso) and spray paint it in your desired colour. Hang hooks onto the rack to store your utensils or use clothes pegs to pin up your recipes for easy reference.
Serve up a communal feast in style
Serve delicious treats in style with this converted chopping board. To make, screw cabinet handles onto the sides of board. You can find individual cabinet handles from IKEA.
Make a stand – literally
Display your array of delectable cakes with this super easy idea: Place a plate over an upended cup. There you have it, a cake stand in seconds! You can secure the pieces with Blu-Tack if you wish.
Get creative with Mason jars
Forget boring tissue covers. This Mason jar-turned-tissue dispenser is bang on trend. First, trace the shape of the lid on cardboard. Then cut out the circle and cut an “X” in the centre of the circle with a penknife. Place a bunch of tissue into the jar and feed the first piece of tissue through the “X”, and screw on the lid ring. You can spray over the Mason jar in your desired shade like us, or leave it clear.
