Catering to the Tan family’s lifestyle and fashion acumen, Averse attended to every detail when formulating a design proposal and overseeing the workmanship.
In their quest to be the ultimate hosts, the homeowners envisioned a cosy yet stylish retreat for late-night gatherings filled with wine and lively conversations. This vision materialised in a modern and luxurious home with colonial influences, meticulously tailored to their refined sensibilities and sprinkled with a few surprises.
Foyer and living room
Upon entering the residence, visitors are greeted by a rose gold feature wall that extends from the floor to the ceiling in the foyer. The living room boasts high-quality materials, featuring an elaborate marble floor that stands out from the white walls. Monstera plants on either side of the TV feature wall, along with sheer curtains, imbue the space with a soft and warm ambience. The lift lobby introduces contrast with black surfaces, brass accents, and fluted details, setting the stage for the dining room and kitchen.
Dining room and kitchen
In the dining room, a beloved piece from the family’s previous home takes centre stage – a hanging light from their favourite designer, Tom Dixon. The dining set’s clean lines draw attention to the travertine on the kitchen island and counter in the background.
Adjacent to the counter is a twin tower wine chiller catering to their love for wine. Fluted glass doors frame the kitchen, adding a homely touch with their arches. One of these doors opens to the common bath, where wall lights from the same Tom Dixon series adorn a fluted panel feature wall.
Study room
The study room is the true embodiment of a man cave, enveloped by dark wooden wall panels with copper hints, mirroring the chandelier and the details on the bookshelves. This space is filled with statement furniture, starring aluminium hardware and leather upholstery. A coffee table fashioned from a chest anchors the room, giving it a sense of austerity.
Master bedroom
A concealed wall in the study leads to the master bedroom, intentionally softened with curved walls and a boucle sofa against a luxurious printed wallpaper. The media unit is kept minimal, featuring a standing television and speaker set against a feature wall with French beading, elongated by another hidden door leading to the master bathroom.
