Home vertical farm helps you live sustainably, eat well, and save money.
You’ve probably heard of SaaS (a cloud-based software delivery model known as Software-as-a- Service), but FaaS (Farming-as-a-Service)?
Grobrix bills itself as the world’s first FaaS company with a modular edible green wall. It believes that the freshest, most nutritious produce should be accessible to all, so it brings the farm and farming directly to members.
The Grobix for Home concept makes it easy to flex that green thumb of yours. Most of us live in HDB flats or apartments. This means space is limited, and we usually do not have the luxury of having our own plot of land to grow our own food (unless they are community gardens).
Grobrix for Home is one way to cultivate leafy greens, herbs, microgreens, cherry tomatoes, and more as part of a healthier, happier, more self-sufficient lifestyle. Think zero waste, minimal effort, and maximum nutrition.
British-born Mathew Howe, who made Singapore his home in 2010, founded the brand because he wanted to eat healthier. “I started growing food to forge deeper relations with my family. We often prepare meals together. At different times, we grow food together.”
It requires little effort from you
You won’t have to worry about not having time or space, or dirtying your home. The modular system is installed indoors on an empty wall measuring 65cm by 200cm with good ventilation and two 13-amp wall outlets for irrigation and lighting; timers control both to optimise growth.
As much water as possible is recycled using closed loop irrigation, which runs 12 hours per day. At home energy prices, this usually costs less than $10 per month, according to Grobrix. It doesn’t require soil, but you need to check water levels every week, resupply nutrients, and prune your plants as needed.
All-inclusive membership, plus the option to grow what you want
As part of your membership, a brand-new Grobrix farm wall is delivered and installed with 3M double- sided tape to secure the brackets (no drilling is necessary). It provides full product coverage and a warranty that allows parts to be repaired or replaced without charging you anything.
Grobrix prefers to be part of the circular economy, so the wall is not for sale. You can cancel your membership any time after the first six months and it will collect everything from you without additional charges. The wall’s components are repurposed or recycled.
