Gustaf Westman x IKEA: A Playful Take on Scandinavian Design

Swedish designer Gustaf Westman has quickly become one of the most recognisable names in contemporary design. Since founding his Stockholm studio in 2020, his creations—most famously the Curvy Mirror—have gone viral, instantly recognisable for their continuous rounded forms, pastel tones, and joyful, almost cartoon-like proportions.

Playful yet purposeful, Gustaf Westman’s work blurs the line between function and art, with designs made to delight.

Trained in architecture before moving into product design, Westman carved a niche for himself by offering a new twist on Scandinavian aesthetics. Instead of the restrained palettes and clean lines typically associated with the region, his pieces are bold, bright, and approachable, striking a balance between statement art and everyday function.

The IKEA Collaboration: Everyday Joy in 12 Pieces

Now, Westman has partnered with IKEA for the first time to design a limited-edition, 12-piece collection of tableware and home accessories. Launching under the brand’s annual VINTERFINT winter line, the collection introduces playful energy into festive entertaining and beyond.

Gustaf Westman’s debut collection with IKEA reimagines festive traditions with sculptural forms and playful colours, proving everyday life is worth celebrating.

From sculptural candleholders to boldly coloured porcelain plates, the designs merge classic reds and greens with modern shades of bubble-gum pink and baby blue, recasting holiday traditions with a fresh, contemporary spirit. A playful lamp and a set of colourful cups bring Westman’s signature style into the everyday, showing that joy doesn’t have to wait for special occasions.

Mark your calendars! The Collection will be available only at IKEA Alexandra store from the 23 October and limited to 1 piece per design per customer daily. While stocks last. For more information, visit ikea.com.sg.
