Furniture shopping can be pricey, but that cost can also lead to an unexpected benefit: free home styling! Before you spend your money on furniture picks here and there, consider getting everything from the same place—and claiming your complimentary home styling. Here are eight furniture retailers that offer this special service.
Bungalow 55
Founded by an interior stylist, Bungalow 55 is a boutique furniture and lifestyle shop with a mix of modern and boho-chic pieces. Their styling services include a free 30-minute consultation in-store, where you can show the stylist pictures of your home and discuss the layout to receive some initial styling advice.
If you want to step things up, an in-home styling session is available too, either at a cost of $100 per hour (two hours max) or redeemable when you spend $500 in-store. This service includes figuring out the best layout for your space, moving your existing furniture for a fresh look, personalised mood boards and recommended products from Bungalow 55 to suit your interiors. The priciest tier is for a complete interior project, which has a flat fee of $500.
Bungalow 55’s approach is interactive and personal, with the goal to integrate your lifestyle into the layout and finish it off with individual pieces that complement the overall look.
Bonus: Any purchases you make from the shop get a 10% discount and free delivery as part of the styling service, while artworks and lights additionally come with complimentary installation (unless ceiling support is required).
Danish Design Co
Danish Design Co is known for its range of chic designer furniture and lighting from high-end brands such as Gubi. When it comes to their complimentary styling services, the stylists will work to understand your taste, furniture budget, ideas and lifestyle while considering your floor plan for a room of your choice.
They will then recommend the best way for you to style this room and how you can utilise your space, with the aim to create a home that you will love in the long run. You’ll receive a customised space-planning proposal at a follow-up appointment in-store, which includes advice on the ideal furniture layout and size for your space, furniture suggestions from Danish Design Co and consultation on materials. Should you spend more than $1,000 on their furniture and home decor during this service, the pieces will be delivered to your home free of charge.
If you’re looking for a more comprehensive styling service, Danish Design Co also offers two other tiers: premium home styling and premium plus home styling. Premium home styling includes an additional 3D rendering of up to two rooms of the house, one house visit and a personalised furniture collage. It costs $500 for one room and $800 for two rooms and can be claimed as complimentary when you spend $5,000 (one room) or $8,000 (two rooms) on furniture and home decor.
The top tier, premium plus home styling, includes all of the above as well as a mood board, a consultation on paint colours, curtains and accessories and a final house visit to complete any finishing touches. This service costs $800 for one room and $1,200 for two rooms and can be redeemed free of charge when you spend at least $8,000 (one room) or $15,000 (two rooms). If you’re looking to style more than two rooms or even your entire home, get in touch with Danish Design Co to arrange for a proposal that works for you.
Bonus: Besides in-store appointments to discuss things face-to-face, you can also choose between a virtual consultation over video, phone or email.
BoConcept
With a penchant for sleek furnishings that are yet warm and inviting, BoConcept also offers complimentary home styling for projects large and small. You can start by booking a consultation virtually, via phone call, in the comfort of your own home or in-store to share your tastes, ideas and lifestyle demands with the stylists.
The team will then work with you to create a design that either incorporates your existing furniture or starts from scratch, referring to your floor plan throughout. You can focus on a specific space in the house or get the entire home done. The complete service costs $250, a fee that is waived if you spend a minimum of $2,500 on BoConcept furniture and home decor.
Once you’ve discussed your ideas and expectations with the stylists, the process will move on to colour planning based on a custom mood board and finally space planning and furniture recommendations to suit the overall design. You’ll receive a 3D rendering of your space to visualise the final look in detail; if you’re happy with it, the team will order the furniture and personally drop by to style your home.
Bonus: If you’re not quite satisfied with your design proposal, you can make changes to the 3D rendering on the spot. You can also make minor adjustments to the look during the styling process in your home, ensuring that everything looks just the way you want it.
IKEA
IKEA is mostly known for its affordable furniture and Swedish meatballs, but it now also offers interior design consultations and even whole home renovation packages. While styling consultations are free at the new Planning Studio with no minimum spend, comprehensive renovations are run in collaboration with interior design platform Livspace and start at $9,900, a fee that includes all of the renovation and construction services you could need and the full furnishing of your home with IKEA picks, delivered to your house for extra convenience.
The Planning Studio also features a specialist showroom modelled after a standard 3-room HDB flat, as well as a virtual SmartPhotos service to get you inspired and help you visualise and budget your final home design.
The focus of IKEA’s show flat and interior design services is to address small-space living and suggest better space planning in a local context. Some of the features your home could be fitted out with include space-savvy kitchens, smart storage solutions and fitted wardrobes.
Bonus: You can just take a walk around the Planning Studio, scan any of the rooms with the SmartPhotos service and digitally change up the products to suit your style and budget.
Soul & Tables
Eco-friendly and ethical all around, Soul & Tables sells indoor and outdoor furniture, as well as cushions, rugs, lamps and small home accessories. Their personalised interior styling service is an extension of this line-up, helping you visualise your dream home with the right Soul & Tables picks to suit your own style and budget.
You can get started with either a face-to-face consultation in the showroom or by filling out their questionnaire online. This will help the stylists understand your budget as well as your taste, including favourite colours and furnishing styles. They will then provide you with a design consultancy proposal, which outlines the plan for your interiors. This service costs $200, which will be refunded if you spend at least $2,000 at Soul & Tables.
Once payment is made, the team will get started on 3D interior modelling based on your floor plan with one revision round. You’ll also receive a personalised mood board featuring relevant Soul & Tables furniture. You’ll have two months to decide whether to accept or reject the proposal. If you choose to go ahead with it, you’ll get an extra 5% discount on any furniture purchases on top of regular offers. You’ll also get to enjoy the brand’s lifetime warranty and complimentary maintenance.
Bonus: Besides additional discounts offered as part of the interior styling service, the Soul & Tables furniture will be delivered to your home free of charge and placed according to the design proposal.
IUIGA
IUIGA not only sells its signature home decor and lifestyle picks but also a wide variety of furniture ranging from modern sofas to Scandi-inspired sideboards. Their complimentary interior styling service includes a personalised floor plan design and 3D rendering (with up to two revisions), which includes a tailored selection of their furniture and homewares to reflect your lifestyle, aesthetic and budget.
The service is currently exclusively for new homeowners and limited to one consultation per address. It is redeemable with an IUIGA purchase above $1,000, including gift cards, and includes free delivery and assembly of the furniture.
As IUIGA has plans to scale this into a more comprehensive offering, there may be additional options and benefits to the service in the near future.
Bonus: The total cost of this service can be split into three separate bills with no interest, which could be particularly helpful for young couples and first-time homeowners.
MUJI
Known for its “no-brand” style and minimalist designs, MUJI stocks a variety of simple furniture and accessories. The company’s interior styling programme follows similar principles, aiming for space-savvy homes with simplicity in mind. You can start off the process by booking an appointment with one of MUJI’s interior advisors via an online consultation form.
Based on your requirements and floor plan, your assigned interior advisor will recommend furniture, storage solutions, colour palettes and even interior layouts for either a room of your choice, various areas of the house or the entire home. You’ll also receive a hand-drawn design proposal, followed by a simple 3D simulation of the project, to help you visualise the final design.
This service is free of charge and comes with no minimum spend or required purchase; if you’re happy with the proposal, you can go ahead and order the recommended furniture to make the suggested design come true.
Bonus: While free delivery is not part of the interior styling service, you can redeem it when you spend a minimum of $500 at MUJI. This will also include furniture assembly free of charge.
Gallery278
Gallery278 carries a wide range of chic furniture, specialising in minimalist pieces made from teak and reclaimed timber. Their home styling packages come in two tiers: basic and comprehensive.
The basic tier costs $500 for one and a half hours of labour, a fee that is waived with a $5,000 furniture purchase. It includes space planning based on your floor plan and preferences, advice on colour choices, furniture and artwork placement tips and a discussion of possible window treatments. Any subsequent work costs $180 per hour.
The comprehensive package, on the other hand, costs $1,280 and includes six hours of labour. It grants you the same advice and planning as the basic tier, plus groundworks and custom drawings for drapes and lighting. If you wish to extend this service, it costs $160 per hour. A $15,000 furniture purchase will waive $1,500 of these home styling charges.
If you’re looking for a full interior design service, Gallery278 offers this too, although it comes at a separate cost, ranging from $3,600 to $21,000. This includes full project management and can extend to structural changes in the home. If you already have a contractor for intensive reno works, the brand can coordinate with the contractor too.
Bonus: Looking for custom designs? Gallery278 can use their local workroom to craft custom wall shelving, space-saving tables and other personalised furnishings. They can also refinish, refurbish, reupholster and modify vintage furniture to make it more functional and suitable for the home in question.
