Beyond Aesthetics: How IDID is Redefining Luxury and Innovation in Interior Design

Interior design often conjures images of functional and beautiful spaces, but for Wynn, founder and creative director of IDID, it is so much more. Guided by a passion for crafting spaces that are as thought-provoking as they are breathtaking, Wynn has built a brand that dares to challenge convention. At IDID, “design with love and passion” isn’t just a motto—it’s a guiding philosophy that informs every project.

Redefining Luxury

Take, for example, a recent project at Bishan condominium. The home embraces a contemporary aesthetic that exudes modern luxury, defined by its neutral palette and timeless design elements. The result is a space that radiates warmth and quiet sophistication while striking a perfect balance between style and functionality.

A standout feature in the living room is a bold curved wall with an integrated LED strip, seamlessly connecting the piano wall to a hidden storeroom. This innovative solution enhances the visual flow of the space while addressing practical needs. In a creative twist, an otherwise overlooked corner was transformed into a storeroom—a rarity in apartments of this type—complemented by seamless storage solutions throughout the home to maintain an uncluttered, efficient layout.

Meanwhile, the kitchen underwent a complete transformation. Opening up the previously enclosed space created a new dry kitchen with unblocked views of the dining and living areas, extending to the balcony beyond. This design not only improves natural ventilation and lighting but also makes the home ideal for entertaining family and friends.

High Risks, Big Rewards

Innovation often comes with challenges, and 2024 was no exception for IDID. One of Wynn’s most ambitious projects was the design and renovation of a new condominium unit with a private lift—completed in just one month.

This monumental task required impeccable time management, detailed drawings, and flawless execution. Wynn and her team worked seamlessly with contractors and suppliers to deliver a space that epitomised perfection. The project was a testament to the team’s experience, collaboration, and determination, proving that even the tightest timelines can be met without compromising on quality.

Experimenting with Design

Wynn’s willingness to push boundaries was a defining feature of IDID’s work in 2024. From fibre glass panels with marble prints for bathroom walls to hidden doors that blur the line between form and function, the team embraced bold experimentation.

Warm, dramatic colour palettes added depth and character, resulting in interiors that were both functional and strikingly beautiful.

These innovative touches created spaces that felt entirely unique—tailored to each client’s needs while exceeding their expectations. By stepping away from the ordinary, Wynn and her team demonstrated how daring design choices could redefine the way people experience their homes.

Challenging the Status Quo

A perfect example of IDID’s “uncommon” approach is a 5-room HDB flat designed for a young couple with three daughters. The goal was to create a dynamic, functional home that pushed the boundaries of traditional design.

The transformation included an open-concept kitchen that flowed seamlessly into a repurposed yard, now functioning as a helper’s room. At the heart of the home was a statement-making island dining table, set against a backdrop of sleek, concrete-finish vinyl flooring. The daughters’ bedroom featured custom-built study tables and beds, blending practicality with style. Every detail reflected the family’s unique personality, proving that even the most conventional spaces can be reimagined into something extraordinary.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As IDID moves into 2025, Wynn envisions a shift toward sustainable and eco-conscious design. “Clients are no longer just looking for beautiful spaces; they want homes that promote well-being and reduce environmental impact,” she explains.

To meet these evolving demands, Wynn plans to incorporate green materials, energy-efficient systems, and biophilic design principles. These eco-friendly elements will not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of homes but also contribute to a more sustainable future.

For Wynn and IDID, the journey of innovation and creativity is just beginning. With a commitment to pushing boundaries and embracing bold ideas, the team continues to redefine what it means to create spaces that are not only functional but also truly uncommon.
