At most furniture showrooms, the routine is quick: scan the floor, sit on a few sofas, check the tags, leave. CANCAN’s flagship studio at Tan Boon Liat is built to break that habit from the first step. The entrance narrows into a dark, quiet tunnel-like atmosphere before the furniture comes fully into view. The pace has slowed before you have even started.
That is the idea. CANCAN Furnishings’ flagship now spans a 3,000-square-foot studio on Level 11 and a newly opened 4,000-square-foot studio on Level 13 at Tan Boon Liat Building, inviting you to stay long enough to picture the furniture in your own home rather than judge it in passing. For co-founder Daniel Mok, that is the whole point.

What You’ll Walk Into
Venturing in, the studio is not laid out in rows of products but as complete residential settings: living, dining and lounging environments you could imagine moving into. Curated by fellow CANCAN co-founder Will Zhang together with Right Angle Studio, each setting brings furniture, rugs, lighting, artwork and materials into harmony while still leaving room for individual expression.
All of it rests on the idea behind the name. CANCAN translates loosely as “everything is possible,” the belief that a home should never be constrained by standardised furniture or fixed collections. Beyond its core collection, the brand works with homeowners, interior designers and hospitality clients to customise existing designs or build entirely bespoke pieces. The flagship puts the choices in front of you: stones, timbers, fabrics, leathers and finishes, enough to see how a single design can take on completely different styles before you commit to one.
The Immersive Route
The pacing is deliberate, and it is the work of Right Angle Studio, founded and led by principal designer Alex Liu with art director Jay Liu. They designed the Level 11 flagship, and the tunnelled entrance that opens the visit is their clearest statement of intent. Where most shops put product in the window, they wanted the arrival to feel like the start of a search rather than the end of one.

Instead of enclosing the settings with walls, the Right Angle Studio team used subtle visual boundaries to suggest lounge and dining areas without boxing them in. As Alex puts it, “the layout encourages guests to wander organically, letting their intuition guide the exploration.”
Structural columns have been turned into slots of light. The settings also draw on what Daniel calls “carefully balanced contrasts between rough and refined textures, light and dark tones”, with soft curves set against clean architectural lines.
Room for Every Home
The settings are varied in scale on purpose, so the collection reads for very different homes. Many of CANCAN’s pieces are inherently modular, but the design team wanted each one shown in what Jay calls “its most compelling configuration”, rather than pared back simply to fit a smaller footprint.
“Certain setups naturally cater to grander houses, while others are perfectly tailored for compact flats. Ultimately, the brand curates its offerings to complement a diverse array of spatial footprints beautifully.”

On Level 13, the studio offers a second, larger space to explore. Although the two studios express different moods, they share the same underlying design philosophy, using varied stones, finishes, upholstery, and lighting to demonstrate the versatility of CANCAN’s collection.

Best of all, none of it hinges on buying that day. And when two floors of choices start to blur, or a couple cannot agree on a fabric, there is a private reception near the entrance where CANCAN pours wine and champagne, letting the tension settle.
