Indulge In Modern Japanese Fare Set Against A Gorgeous Backdrop At KOMA

Joining Marquee and Avenue is KOMA – the latest addition to TAO Group and Marina Bay Sands’s integrated dining and entertainment project. Designed by renowned American design firm Rockwell Group, the 230-seater restaurant and bar aims to grab the attention of its guests right from the get-go.

KOMA passageway

Upon arriving at KOMA, expect to be greeted by a breathtaking 20 metre-long passageway inspired by the Torii Gates of the Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. The visual feast then continues with the restaurant’s majestic oriental interior décor – from acoustic panels designed to resemble lily pads hanging from the ceiling, to a traditional Japanese foot bridge and reflecting pool, and finally ending with the 2.5-metre high Japanese bell which serves as the defining centerpiece of the entire venue.

Under the glow of orange and gold hues, the dining room is anchored by a 15-seater bar that showcases a dazzling display of the day’s offerings. Meanwhile, a mixture of curved booths, two- to four-person tables, and large round communal tables serve to accommodate a variety of diners. Additionally, the restaurant also features a mezzanine floor with a semi-private dining room reserved for intimate group gatherings.

KOMA bar

A stunning showcase of the best of Japanese cuisine, the extensive menu features a selection of adventurous dishes as well as original creations specially crafted by KOMA’s Executive Chef Kunihiro Moro. Special highlights include the signature Salmon Pillow ($14) – a crisp puff pastry shell stuffed with smoked avocado and topped with salmon sashimi and burnt jalapeno peppers, and the D.I.Y. Spicy Tuna ($18) – where warm, round, crispy rice “discs” nestled in the fingers of a mannequin hand are served alongside spicy tuna tartare and sweet soy sauce dips.

Looking to indulge in something a little more decadent? Then the Surf & Turf Roll ($58) – a savoury combination of wagyu beef, Hokkaido uni and caviar; and the Snow Aged Niigata Wagyu Beef – where top-grade Japanese wagyu beef is aged for 30 days to develop an umami flavour and extremely tender textures for a melt-in-your-mouth experience are dishes you definitely wouldn’t want to miss out on.
