With toys, storybooks and other miscellaneous items lying around, it can be hard to keep your children’s bedrooms clutter free. But fret not, for we’ve compiled some effective organising tools that will help you keep these spaces neat and tidy in the long term.
#1 Open cabinets and baskets
Humans are visual creatures, and our kids are no exception, which means that if a particular toy is out of their sight, chances are that it’ll be out of their minds as well. As such, to prevent you from having to repurchase a toy your child already has, include some open cabinets in their room to keep their favourite items in full view. Store books and board games in an upright position in the cubbyholes for a neater profile, and utilise baskets for bulkier items like stuffed animals.

#2 Clear labelled boxes
While the previous point is more catered towards the toys you want your child to have access to at any time of the day, there are some items – like craft supplies and toys with tiny pieces – that should be kept away from their reach until you are around to supervise them. As such, keep these items in clear stackable boxes and add labels on the outside to make it easy to grab what you need without having to sift through boxes.
#3 Wall shelves
Be it books, dolls, Lego people or action figures, we can all agree that most kids are collectors of something. But without a dedicated spot for storing and displaying these items, the collection is more likely to look like a jumbled mess if left lying around the room. Instead, tack on some shelves to the walls to lend order and display these little finds.

#4 Display board
Whether in the form of a wooden cork board or a magnetic board, these accessories will make for a great addition to any child’s room as it provides an easily accessible home for loose papers and cut-outs that would otherwise be cluttering tabletop surfaces. Use it to display your child’s artwork, family photos, school papers or even inspirational quotes.
#5 Wall hooks
We see them mounted along the entryway for catching outerwear and in our own master bedrooms for our daily wearables, so it should only make sense that wall hooks make an appearance in our kids’ rooms too. Available in a variety of designs and colours, these wall-mounted accessories would make a great landing spot for clothes, jackets, hats and help keep these garments off the floor.
