Home is where our favourite people and possessions are, and for the owners of this resale condo unit, their new abode definitely embodies all that and more.
The initial conceptualisation of their dream home stemmed from moodboards where they pinned European-style opulence, dark wood textures, and grey and white tones as sources of inspiration.
Materialising their design wishlist was Project Designer Wayne Tan from Fineline Design who seamlessly weaved everything together.
Other than fine aesthetics, Wayne introduced functionality within custom design features to better cater to the homeowners’ lifestyle requirements. “They have expansive collections of books and liquor and wanted to display them prominently,” he reveals.
With the walls now flanked by custom shelving, the living area is surrounded by volumes of books, much like a refined reading room. Evoking a casual European look with its curated placement of a Chesterfield sofa and matching leather accent chairs, the living area extends a welcoming gesture.
Since the homeowners enjoy wining and dining at home, Wayne looked into implementing a custom-built wine chiller to accommodate their impressive collection of liquor.
Capitalising on his experience working on commercial designs, he could easily incorporate a professional-grade wine chiller within a residential setting.
To elevate the experience of entertaining at home, he then designed a two-metre-long dining table which could seat a company of eight comfortably.
Previously enclosed, the kitchen is now an open-concept cook space and this guest-friendly layout also reflects the homeowners’ love for entertaining. Now decked in marble-look quartz surfaces, the Calacatta marble-inspired strokes create a show-stopping focal point for the heart of the home.
Further drawing out the magnificence of the pristine white marble look is the application of dark marble-effect homogeneous tiles used for the flooring. This highlights the dramatic contrast between the two marble tones of day and night.
In the master bedroom, a calming vision of white and woody accents takes over. Wayne managed to turn the tight situation of this space-challenged bedroom around. He says: “Space is limited here so we needed to maximise every square foot.”
A full-height fixture which frames the bed with cabinetry offers the homeowners a generous capacity of storage without impinging on too much floor area. One of the full-height wardrobes at the side even boasts a hideaway dresser which has been seamlessly concealed behind the closed wardrobe doors.
The clean-lined palette of white laminate finishes allows the wood-look laminates to take precedence as the focal point of the room. With the wood-effect strips outlining the recessed wall and headboard, it creates visual depth and a cosy contrast against the light-coloured backdrop.
The custom-built bed frame also hosts a functional ledge as well as recessed lighting.
Echoing the white marble look in the kitchen, both bathrooms have been dressed in a similar application of marble-effect homogeneous tiles.
The grandeur of the beautiful grey and black veining is highlighted by sanitary fittings and accessories in a sleek, black finish. With that, the interplay of modernity and luxury comes together flawlessly in these bathrooms; much like the rest of the home.
