Relaxed sophistication comes home to this resale condo with its mid-century modern setting interweaved with tropical inspiration.
Even with minimal renovation works, this three-bedroom resale condo has been transformed completely through the power of well-curated decorative details. And the one behind the magic is designer Rashi Tulshyan and her team from Home Philosophy. She says: “The homeowners are a married couple and are British expatriates. For their home in Singapore, they wanted us to have a nature-inspired take on the mid-century modern theme.”
To bring their design vision to life, Rashi worked in tropical touches through decorative details such as soft furnishings and verdant greenery. These distinctive accents make up a relaxing space, perfect for the homeowners to retreat to. The living area which opens up into the balcony strengthens the feel-good atmosphere. Rashi capitalised on the breezy and light-filled setting by giving the walls a fresh coat of white paint.
Besides creating a spacious visage, the all-white setup including the existing glossy-tiled flooring makes the perfect canvas for pops of nature-inspired accent colours. Rashi’s expert eye in combining these refined colours with sumptuous textures has presented an inviting yet layered aesthetic for this communal zone.
Comfort also comes with a tailored look in the dining area which is clad in blue hues and wood textures. Every decorative detail, down to the luminaires from GlowLights, has been carefully considered. This puts together a statement pairing whereby the metallic finishes of the blue pendant lamps match the deep jewel tones of the plush dining chairs impeccably.
Moving into the private quarters, Rashi was commissioned to dress up two bedrooms—the master bedroom and a common bedroom. A prime spot for winding down for the day, the main suite boasts an L-shaped bay window settee for taking in sweeping window views. With daylight bathing the space, the tranquillity factor is pushed up a notch with tropical-inspired details such as the rattan pendant lamp and bold botanical prints. A quilted headboard with buttons adds a regal finishing touch.
The other bedroom, which would be typically used as a guest room, is dressed to the nines as well. Matching the existing custom wardrobe, a muted-hued headboard was chosen to complement the neutral colour scheme of the room. The entire setup is simple but tastefully furnished, and best of all, its versatile style means the homeowners can switch the look as they please.
The condo unit itself has good bones so heavy renovation works were not necessary to alter the layout. This meant that Rashi and her team had their work cut out for them as they had to impress with a wow-factor colour scheme and room style. Using organic touches like soothing hues inspired by nature and woody textures, they have successfully nailed the design brief of a sophisticated but pared back mid-century modern home.
