Their love for all things Art Deco manifests in the Scene Shang Flagship Store located in the heritage enclave of Kampong Glam. Spanning 1,000 square feet, the store and showroom is an intimate and elegant space reminiscent of shophouse units of yore, but dressed up with a contemporary twist.

This spot is a scene of tranquility, complete with a potted olive tree and a four-petal plum shaped moon gate. The ladies intend this zone to be used for a rotating series of workshops, exhibitions and installations.

Keeping to brand’s philosophy of bringing out the best of East and West, the rest of the flagship store is all dark-woods, streamlined furnishings and exquisite chinois-inspired furniture, all set to the backdrop of a stunning navy wall and the soothing sounds of Shanghai jazz. The scene is the perfect complement to Scene Shang’s modern Chinese furniture pieces, such as their marble and brass Banker Desk Lamp and the award-winning SHANG system modular cabinets.

These include Chinese-inspired porcelain pieces by Middle Kingdom, lifestyle accessories from KalaPata, art deco desk fans from Imasu and Straits Chinese-inspired rugs by The Rug Maker. The aim, as the founders explain, is to bring modern designs that celebrate Chinese and Asian culture together in one space.
