Communal area
Black and white walls create a striking yet neutral backdrop for the owner’s collection of artworks, each perfectly lighted from above to bring out every detail. Foregoing the usual bulky furnishings, this area was deliberately kept spare to evoke a gallery feel and facilitate viewing of the art.
Kitchen
Sleek white cabinetry makes the cooking zone bright and roomy, but to infuse the space with personality, the designer proposed Peranakan-style ceramic tiles as an accent for the floor to add pops of colour and local flavour to the space.
Main bedroom
For a richer look, the original parquet in a classic herringbone pattern was stained in a darker hue. New wardrobes were added here for added utility, and track lighting from Lightart Studio was installed to continue the home’s art gallery theme.
Bathroom
A raw industrial look was determined for the bathroom, so ceramic tiles reminiscent of slate and stone was chosen for the flooring and walls. To match the industrial vibes, the owner specified an unconventional floating steel vanity which pairs nicely with the wall-to-wall medicine cabinet to offer plenty of stylish storage.
Entry
Establishing an edgy and stylish first impression, trompe-l’œil panels on the shoe cabinetry along with graphic black and white flooring hint at the modern art gallery aesthetic that runs through the house.
