Airy, spacious and inspired by the homeowners’ love of travel, this condo unit underwent a dramatic transformation.
With a love of hosting and plans to get a dog in the future, these young homeowners knew they needed more room to breathe. They engaged Yan from Blend by ImC to helm a full renovation of their new condo unit, resulting in a much brighter and more spacious environment that allows for easy hosting and lively dinners.
Taking their love of travel into consideration as well, the design team also incorporated elements from some of their favourite destinations into the finished abode.
FACT FILE
Space: Condominium unit
Size: 1,140 sq ft
Location: Tanjong Rhu
Designer: Yan from Blend by ImC
Reno period: 12 weeks
Budget: $70K
Living area
The layout of the living area lends itself to joyful gatherings, with the sofa facing the alfresco dining area on the balcony and backed by an open-concept kitchen with a spacious island.
This arrangement allows the couple to enjoy the company of their loved ones over great food and with a fantastic view.
Kitchen
Hacking the original kitchen walls was one of the main objectives of this renovation, improving the flow of movement through the home while also allowing more natural light to stream into the kitchen.
A blue and white colour scheme was adopted for this space, inspired by the beauty of Santorini; backsplash tiles from Hafary were picked in various shades of blue to achieve a relative match with the particular hue of the window frames, the gradient making any differences in colour less obvious.
Bedroom
The blue window frames and shutters were incorporated into the bedroom as well, picking up the colour palette from the kitchen while mellowing it down with grey tones for a more restful ambience.
A barn door was custom-built with a fluted glass element, functioning as a sliding bathroom entrance that takes up no extra room on either side, keeping everything spacious and streamlined.
Bathroom
Beyond the barn door, the modern minimalist en-suite bathroom is clad in low-maintenance Hafary tiles and fitted out with a textured vanity laminate from Admira.
