This 4-room flat was given an airy, spacious makeover for its single owner.
After 10 years of inhabiting this flat, the owner took the leap to finally renovate it to her liking. While her sister technically shares the home with her, she works overseas and rarely stays in the apartment, meaning that the design decisions mostly fell to the single owner.
Engaging OVON Design for the renovation, she requested to maximise the space and improve the storage situation, while also letting in more natural light to brighten the interiors. Some of the walls were ultimately hacked, rearranging the entire flat to cater to her needs.

Living and dining
The design in the living and dining areas was kept minimalistic, adding a simple, full-height storage cabinet built flush with the wall for a seamless finish.
A large, custom dining table with a quartz top from Lian Hin was incorporated into the open-concept dining space, allowing the owner to host gatherings with friends and family without needing to squeeze.
The table also doubles up as a work-from-home station, so this is certainly an area she spends a lot of time in.
Foyer
Having secured the corridor outside of the original unit boundaries, the owner now has enough space to dedicate the foyer to a custom bicycle storage nook and some treasured plants. Some of her handmade pottery pieces are displayed in this room as well.
Kitchen
After hacking the previous storeroom, the kitchen now boasts plenty of usable space, with a long yet airy layout and a generous storage allowance.
An open shelf above the sink functions as a display space for her proudest pottery creations, while the blue and green subway backsplash from Hafary brings a pop of colour and texture into the mostly off-white kitchen.
At the back, the open service yard comes with an elevated washing machine for easier access.
Bedroom
Originally two separate bedrooms, the new main suite is entered through a dark blue sliding door, visible to the left of the wardrobe.
Modern slits let natural light into the walk-in wardrobe concealed beyond the panels, providing ample room for the homeowner’s clothes.
Combining the original two bedrooms into a single one made for a much more generous space that’s airy and comfortable through and through.
