Happe Design Atelier | Moody Retreat | Holland Drive

Dark hues and luxurious textures make for a soothing atmosphere that inspires relaxation.

While maximising storage space was definitely a priority for this couple, aesthetics weren’t neglected either in this HDB flat. In the hands of Jacob Low from Happe Design Atelier, dark, wood-look built-ins were constructed to flow seamlessly from one room to the next, helping to conceal the storage space for a clean-cut finish.

The dusky woodgrain additionally forms a striking contrast against the pared-back white walls for a decidedly modern interior that’s visually expansive and restful.

Living and dining

With its dark tones, cosy sofa niche and luxurious KING couch, the living area makes for an intimate space to wind down and relax at the end of the day. The adjacent dining area, connected yet visually segregated by the built-in cabinetry, provides plenty of room for friends and family to join the couple on dinner nights.

Kitchen

The kitchen utilises the same wood-look laminates from Lamitak that we can find in the living and dining areas, making for a smooth transition into the cooking zone. Sticking to the theme of monochromatic contrasts, the dazzling marble-look backsplash provides a visual respite from the dusky hues.

Bedroom and bathroom

The private quarters once again make use of the lush woodgrain, keeping the look cohesive throughout the home. The bedroom is particularly dark, incorporating soothing strip lighting with a soft glow that’s gentle on the eyes. The bathroom, on the other hand, is clad in grey and white stone for a space that’s much brighter for everyday functionality.
