A soft Scandinavian aesthetic and spacious layout make this the perfect home for a newly-wed couple.
Newly wedded and ready to kickstart their life together, this young couple knew from the get-go that they wanted a clean, bright and airy look with a Scandinavian vibe for their first home.
The team at OVON Design interpreted this brief easily enough, sticking to light wood tones and warm off-white hues, then incorporating an open-concept kitchen to facilitate hosting and mingling with friends and family. The rest of the home maintains a similarly soothing and welcoming look, evoking a sense of cosy consistency.

Overall view
Hacking the wall between the kitchen and living area entirely transformed the home, lending it a spacious feel and significantly brightening the interiors. Guests can now relax and mingle across three different areas—living, dining and kitchen—while still feeling close to each other.
No wonder it’s the couple’s favourite space in the house!
Living and dining
The living area boasts plenty of storage space thanks to a custom-built Panaplast TV console that extends into a full-height cabinet on the right-hand side. Homogenous tiles from Soon Bee Huat ensure low-maintenance flooring, while a Tan Boon Liat sofa and dining set from Commune lend the area its Scandinavian charm.
Kitchen
The kitchen is not just where the couple cooks, eats and entertains guests, but also a multifunctional area for those work-from-home days. This made it extra important to incorporate plenty of storage space, which can be found all around the kitchen and even below the kitchen island, concealed by the aesthetically pleasing shiplap texture.
The understated wooden stools from Second Charm add the final Scandi touch to this warm and welcoming space.
Main bedroom
The lovely shiplap texture can be found once more in the bedroom, applied to the full-height wardrobe and matching vanity. Despite being predominantly white, the bedroom avoids visual fatigue thanks to the wooden flooring and vanity top, which doubles up as a nightstand to save space.
The light grey tiles in the adjacent bathroom contrast softly with the rest of the home for some added visual interest.
