Before the renovation, the living room was dark and cloaked in outdated finishes and colours.

Pulling from the raw and blocky brutalist style, the team updated the space with new stone-look porcelain tile flooring and a complementary media wall that offers both practical storage and display ledges, giving the space a brighter and cleaner appearance.

Kitchen

The biggest changes occurred in the kitchen where a wall was hacked for a roomier feel and a new peninsula was put in its place, giving the home a more casual, secondary dining spot.

The cramped counters and overbearing cabinetry were replaced with marble-like quartz surfaces from Casa Stone as well as light-hued cabinetry fitted with modern appliances for a fresh and airy look.

Continuing the home’s material palette of pale tones and wood textures, the bathroom was redone with generous floating storage space, a wall-hung WC and new tiles that evoke a peaceful atmosphere, packing lots of function and style into the modest footprint without making the space feel closed in.

Taking advantage of the room’s sizeable proportions, the team installed a row of closets clad in deeper tones to play up the monolithic, brutalist aesthetic.

They then created a separate section by the window where they added more storage space and a vanity area so the homeowners can get ready in natural light.
