With their designer’s help, this family maximised functionality and storage space while achieving the elegant interiors they were after.

Space: Condominium unit
Size: 1,200 square feet
Location: Upper East Coast
Home to: A family of four and their helper
Designer: Jillien Lum from Renozone Interior Design House
Living room
Sticking with a neutral palette that would complement the existing marble flooring, the designer gave the communal space a more upscale appearance by installing a stunning sintered stone slab on the media wall, ambient lighting to enhance the mood and trim on the walls for visual interest.
Her clients wanted a storage unit with display shelves, and based on photos they shared, Jillien created a design accented with gold strips for an extra luxe touch.
Dining area
Located right by the entrance, this spot was kept simply furnished and accessorised to create a spacious, gallery-like feel.
Armed with their designer’s furniture suggestions, the owners picked out a matching console and dining table crafted with pink stone and gold frames, pairing them with leggy chairs in a creamy hue to enhance the airiness of the dining space.
Son’s room
Making the most of a compact bedroom, the designer put in a platform bed by the bay window, adding storage under the stairs and surrounding the other walls with full-height cabinetry.
A table in the middle doubles as a partition, giving the sleeping zone more privacy.
As a surprise for the boy, the designer created a laser cutout of the son’s name, placing it on a door panel to give the room a more dynamic and personalised appearance.
Main bedroom
The bedrooms in the house are small, so the designer had to work out how to fit a large wardrobe, dressing and study table, nightstands and the owners’ preferred bed size within the compact footprint.
With a different layout in mind, the owners required some convincing to come around to this proposed configuration, but the predominantly white space now fulfils all their needs without feeling cramped.
Main bathroom
Going with a classic black and white scheme, the bathroom was given a glam refresh with marble-look tiles on the wall and a mosaic design for the floor.
Bold dark blue cabinetry fitted with diffused lighting provides a focal point while offering much-needed storage space for grooming and cleaning supplies.
