This lively executive HDB flat was clad in bold colours and charming patterns, resulting in a vibrant abode that tells a story.

Inspired by their honeymoon on the Greek island of Santorini, this couple wanted to go all out on their home design, opting for vibrant blue hues in the kitchen, a bold wallpaper in the living room and a soothing pink shade for the bedroom and master bathroom. This lively look was made possible by designer Kuan Mei Yee from DISTINCTidENTITY, transporting the happy couple back to their dream destination day after day.

Overall view

In order to recreate the unique beauty of Santorini, the designer not only opted for a deep ocean blue across the kitchen cabinets but also opened up the kitchen for a spacious, airy layout that invites easy hosting and entertaining. The peninsula was fitted out with a pair of chic bar stools from Second Charm, partially set against tropical wallpaper from Hello Circus for a local touch. All of this is visible right from the entryway, amplifying the design by making it the first impression of this memorable home.

Kitchen

Fitted out with custom-built cabinets in a striking blue tone and retro-style patterned tiles across the backsplash and floors, this kitchen instantly livens up the home with a touch of drama. The adorable teapot handles from Shanghai Tong Lee Hardware stand out against the cabinet fronts with a classy gold design, while the VICOSTONE countertops in Misterio keep the kitchen low-maintenance and long-lasting.

Master bathroom

While the home’s original floor plan featured two small toilets with very limited square footage, the designer chose to combine them into a single bathroom, maximising the space for a more practical and luxurious environment. Now the couple can make use of a large shower enclosure and a built-in vanity with double sinks, allowing both homeowners to get ready in the same space without feeling squeezed. A selection of pink and grey tiles from Hafary and Soon Bee Huat create a sense of continuity from the pink-themed bedroom and seamlessly complement the dark fixtures from Modeste.

Bedroom

Extending the bedroom to make for a more spacious environment posed an unexpected challenge for the designer: due to the ceiling height, the room needed to be reinforced before any hacking works could be done. Thankfully, the result was worth the trouble, providing the couple with a dreamy pink bedroom and plenty of room for a custom-built wardrobe with vintage-inspired wainscoting.
