An airy and spacious abode gives this family room to play and grow.

Whether it’s to host friends and family, allow the kids ample room to play or find a quiet corner to spend some time by yourself, a spacious maisonette certainly has its perks. Once this family of five chose the grand unit for themselves and their helper, they engaged DISTINCTidENTITY to help whip up their dream interiors.

The renovation involved crafting an open-space living and dining area for lively social gatherings and connecting this space with the kitchen via a pocket island. The family’s favourite design style—subdued modern—was infused into every part of the home, keeping it elegant and cohesive across the board.

Dining room

An upgrade we don’t often see in Singapore is a change of windows, but it certainly makes all the difference in this gorgeous dining room. The home’s tall ceilings allow the windows to extend higher, resulting in a bright and airy space that’s instantly calming.

Staircase

As you enter the home, a grand staircase invites you upstairs, its warm and welcoming parquet flooring freshly stained for a brand-new look. The design team also added a tempered glass railing, which helps to expand the area visually by letting in extra light. Plus, it keeps the stairs much safer for the little ones!

Living area

The grand feature wall in the living area frames the TV with open shelving for the homeowners to display their favourite knick-knacks. More handy storage space is concealed within the console unit below.

Kitchen

The wealth of natural light continues in the kitchen, fitted out with wood-look cabinetry and countertops from Dekton for a grounded, natural finish.

Study

This room makes use of its generous space by housing various activities at once, from a work-from-home station to musical instruments and more. The design team incorporated a wide sliding glass door to allow for more natural light and a brighter space all around.

Laundry area

A special request from the homeowners, the dedicated laundry area on the second floor had to be carefully configured. In the end, one of the bedrooms was made a little bit smaller to accommodate the laundry appliances and storage fittings—an exchange that wouldn’t work for everyone but was very much worth it for this family.
