Minimalism and simplicity take centre stage in this pared-back BTO flat.
Newlyweds in their late 20s, these two homeowners wanted simplicity for their home, aiming to strike a balance between beauty and functionality in their interiors.
They engaged Nick Ng from Darwin Interior to take on the renovation, requesting new flooring for the living area and bedrooms, as well as a tile overlay in both bathrooms.
Carpentry works were completed all over the flat, from the entrance to the main bedroom, providing the couple with plenty of storage space.
Aesthetically, the home now boasts an understated Scandinavian theme, with a mix of dark and light wood set against a minimalist, white backdrop.

Living area
In order to lend the home a softer touch, the cabinetry along the entryway was given curved edges.
This rounded storage unit is the key centrepiece of the house, invigorating the design as soon as one walks into the home while simultaneously providing highly functional storage space.
Kitchen and dining
Due to the tight square footage, the kitchen and dining area were combined into a single space, the dry kitchen functioning as a dinner backdrop with a stylish open pantry.
Keeping the wet kitchen open and the service yard accessible through a clear glass door helps to make this whole area feel much brighter and more expansive.
Bedroom
The homeowners’ favourite space in their new abode, the bedroom was fitted with minimalist strip lighting above the headboard, sleek cove lighting along the ceiling as well as subtle, wall-mounted bedside lamps. It’s a refined, restful area perfect for sleep and relaxation.
En-suite bathroom
Next to a full-height wardrobe with a gorgeous woodgrain pattern, the bedroom opens to the en-suite bathroom, clad in neutral tones and low-maintenance fixtures.
