Inspired by Santorini’s aesthetic, interior designer Satya Saya worked with Renozone Interior to recreate the look of his new home.
FACT FILE
Space: Condominium unit
Size: 963 square feet
Location: Potong Pasir
Designer: Renozone Interior Design House and Satya Saya
Reno period: 4 weeks
Living room and feature wall
Working off Santorini’s iconic white and blue colour scheme, Satya decided to clad the ceiling in wood planks for a natural look and had it painted blue like the domes on the island’s buildings. He then carried this same striking hue across the trimwork and doors, tying the different spaces of the home together.
Since white-washed surfaces are big in Santorini, Satya wanted to recreate this look on the feature wall with stone slabs that would be painted white. Colin Phua of Renozone Interiors proposed cultured stone which would achieve the same texture without weighing down the walls. Floating shelf panels were later installed so that artefacts that the family had collected could be showcased to good effect.
Balcony
To evoke a resort feel, the handy homeowner painstakingly painted the decking to create a casual, distressed effect and ramped up the relaxing vibes by adding pebbles and plants around the perimeter. The lighting overhead is a DIY creation by the homeowner who used roped lights to boost the seaside theme.
Office
Breaking down a wall separating this space from the living room gave this area a roomier appearance. Inspired by Santorini’s architecture, the white and blue cube storage was arranged so that your eyes are led to the pool below. As the family was coming from a larger home, Satya had no space to store the posters sold by his company and so decided to create a display of the poster tubes in the shelving unit below.
Common bathroom
The bathroom is bold without being overwhelming with the strong patterns balanced out with a simpler two-tone colour scheme. Since there are no windows here and the tiles were a darker hue, five lights were added to liven up the space and enhance the blue.
