This abode for two is thoroughly stylish yet practical, a perfect blend of modern touches infused with Japanese design.
FACT FILE
Space: 3-bedroom condo
Size: 1,500 square feet
Location: River Valley
Designer: Wein Goh of Notion of W
Reno Period: 2 months
Study
By combining two rooms, Wein expanded the master suite and incorporated a walk-in dressing area as well as an office. When the husband needs to work at night, the sliding door can be shut to avoid flooding the bedroom with light. Just a few beams peek through the ventilation grate to give the bedroom a pretty glow. The grate also allows visual contact between the couple to create a cosier environment.
Closet
Located next to the study and within the bedroom is a parallel row of closets that light up. Their tinted glass doors give off a modern vibe and prevent the alley from looking claustrophobic while minimising visual clutter. A full-height mirror lengthens and brightens this space while making the pillar it’s mounted on seem to disappear.
Entrance
As soon as you step in, your eyes are drawn to a display feature constructed with laminates. With tastefully lighted niches for the homeowner’s decorative pieces, this statement piece extends to the kitchen entrance. The same wooden slat design wraps around part of the living room and the corridor and is further enhanced with practical strips of light, giving these previously plain areas some stylish flair.
Living
Wein wanted to make the dining, living, and patio areas feel like one big space. He achieved this by using grey flooring throughout the zones and low-lying furniture which lets you enjoy the view.
Dining
Set against a marble effect backdrop hand-painted by an artist, the dining set-up sourced from Grafunkt and Conde House is full of Japanese influences from the lantern-like lamps to the pale wood chairs and extendable dining table.
