Kicking off their brief with a straightforward request, the family of five residing in this four-storey house asked Steve Goh from Fineline Design for just one thing: a modern luxe theme that would evoke a sophisticated aura in their large abode. The resulting space contrasts light and bright marble with black granite, dark walnut and striking metallic accents for a truly luxurious design.

The living room effectively showcases the extent of this home’s luxe appeal, boasting a double-height laminate feature wall above a custom-built floating TV console as the room’s focal point. A mirrored stainless steel pelmet segregates the first two floors, opening up the space by reflecting light as well as warming up the living areas with a gold sheen. The marble flooring has a similar effect with its peachy hue, which also matches the nude-toned curtains on the right-hand side of the feature wall. The final touch is a wooden side table with a floating design, used by the family as a festive display on special occasions.
Located on the right-hand side of the second floor, the free-standing bar sports a perfectly black counter and matching island with a polished finish, both topped with mirrored granite slabs that add some texture and dimension to the overall space. The cool, dark hue of these fittings is balanced out by warm-toned parquet flooring and recessed lights, the latter incorporated to the carpentry with golden fixtures.
A top-hung sliding glass door opens from the centre to an impressive row of black cabinets, finished with glossy edgeband laminates that show no unsightly joints and appear almost acrylic in texture. They’re topped with a marble-look quartz slab, which makes for a particularly sturdy worktop and an overall hard-wearing kitchen space.
In order to bring some much-needed softness to the bedroom, parquet flooring planks were laid out underfoot, the warm wooden tones repeated in a floating wood-strip design applied to the wall behind the cosy double bed. The cushioned headboard doubles up as a glamorous backrest, a series of hidden strip lights providing a soft glow that further enhances the unique feature wall. Rounding off this cosy space is a custom-built plywood desk with a laminate finish, situated underneath a large window to maximise natural light.
