Noble Interior Design | Clean Refresh | Serangoon

Tasked with opening up the living areas of this BTO flat, designer Winstar Tey from Noble Interior Design opted for airy white surroundings and the occasional pop of pastel green and wooden texture to liven up the home. The result is an inviting abode with enough space to accommodate friends, family and even the homeowners’ lively pets.

Living area

Originally a whole lot smaller, the living area was expanded by hacking one of its walls and combining the living room with a superfluous bedroom. To further open up this space, the designer suggested opting for a Hommage Lifestyle sofa with a low backrest; while a high backrest would have offered additional support and comfort, it could create the illusion of a half-wall and make the room appear smaller overall. A TV console from Castlery adds some extra dimension to the living area, alongside a rustic-style SPIN ceiling fan from Luminor Lighting.

Home office

Pared-down in order to avoid distractions and encourage productivity, the home office is livened up by a pastel green accent wall for that subtle pop of colour. A floating desk and matching shelves make up the work zone of this room, while a custom-built platform with handy storage drawers gives the homeowners a space to relax and unwind.

Kitchen

Custom-built matt white cabinets frame the kitchen, keeping it airy and uncluttered. A simple wood-look KompacPlus top was crafted with a mitre joint to give the illusion of a full-size wooden plank, incorporating a custom sink cover that doubles up as a dish rack. Long subway tiles were applied to the backsplash in a herringbone pattern for visual interest, the white surface emphasised by black grout lines. Last but certainly not least, the standard kitchen entrance was replaced by a clear glass door, letting in a wealth of natural light.
