5 Spots You Can Speed-Clean in 5 Minutes

Only got five minutes on your hands and wanna get some quick cleaning done? Here are five spots in your home you can speed-clean in just a few minutes.

Bathroom sink

From toothpaste to soap scum, your bathroom sink sees a lot of dirt throughout the day. Thankfully it’s pretty easy to clean! Start by wiping the entire sink down with a wet cloth to take out the surface grime, then spray the area with a disinfectant bathroom cleaner of your choice and rinse everything. For tough stains, dry the sink thoroughly and then scrub it with baking soda and a dry cloth before rinsing away the dirt.

Behind the bed

One area that’s often overlooked when cleaning the house is the gap between the bed and the wall. Despite how seldom it gets a good clean, it’s actually a really quick and easy spot. All you need to do is pull the bed frame back from the wall to make enough space for your mop and broom. Start by sweeping up all the major dirt, then mop the area and let it dry before pushing the bed back into place. If you have some extra time, give the floor under the bed a thorough sweep while you’re at it.

Stovetop

While it’s important to wipe down your cooking area after every meal, the occasional deep-clean certainly doesn’t hurt. If you have a few extra minutes on your hands, grab your kitchen cleaner and wipe down the cooktop and edges around it. For very stubborn dirt, make a paste using baking soda and water and scrub the area clean with a soft sponge or cloth. Don’t use anything too abrasive, as it can damage your stovetop. Got a traditional gas stove with metal grates? Simply soak the grates in a mix of hot water and de-greasing dish soap while you scrub away at the cooktop.

TV console

Who ever thinks of cleaning the TV console? If you haven’t given yours a good clean, you may be surprised at how much dust and even dirt it accumulates over time. Make sure to clear the console of picture frames, candles, decor items and all of your TV accessories before you get started. Gently wipe down each of the items as you remove them to avoid spreading dust everywhere. Once you have a clear surface area, wipe it with a damp cloth, then dry it. Move everything back into place to finish off the job.

Desk drawers

Did you know that taking short breaks during work can help boost your focus and concentration? You can even use these breaks to get a little bit of cleaning done around your work space. Take your desk drawers, for instance. Start by emptying one drawer at a time and sorting through what’s inside, decluttering your stationery or snacks in the process. Wipe down the contents you choose to keep, shake out the drawer and wipe the inside with a damp cloth. Violà, clean drawers in just a few minutes!
