Living
When the owners of this three-bedroom apartment approached designer Chris Koh of The Orange Cube for their home’s renovation, one of their main requests was that every part of the home should encompass a standout feature. Evident in the living room, the feature wall that was constructed using tiles in a raw plastered finish not only serves as the mounting surface for the television, it is also used as a partition to keep the private living chambers hidden from prying eyes.
Junior Bedroom
To match the rest of the home, Chris decked the junior bedroom in a mix of cement grey laminates and white subway tiles. In addition to the shelves mounted on the walls, an elevated platform was installed within the sleeping area to provide the occupant with additional storage solutions.
Kitchen
The designer hacked away the walls that once closed off the kitchen from the rest of the house. However, providing a subtle demarcation between the cooking and living area is the change in flooring from vinyl into grey-accented tiles. Meanwhile, the use of high- gloss red acrylic sheets on the storage cabinets inject verve and vigour into the utilitarian zone.
Master en suite
By repositioning the vanity and sink to the corridor, the tight and narrow master bathroom now feels more spacious. This modification also allows the users to have an extended countertop and additional storage space for their bathroom essentials. On the floor, multicoloured decorative tiles inject some tactile interest into an otherwise low-key shower zone.
Common bathroom
By using grey marble-lookalike large format homogeneous tiles on the floor and walls, the common bathroom was designed to emulate the look
of luxurious bathrooms found in high-end hotels. A glass shower enclosure separates the wet and dry zones, and there is ample storage for bathroom essentials on both the under-sink as well as the mirrored medicine cabinet.
